ANNFIELD Plain made it two wins from two outings when they overcame visitors Blaydon by eight wickets.

Blaydon just could not break free from the shackles imposed by the home bowlers, limping to 61-6 in their 20 overs.

Sam Blake put the early dampeners on the visiting batsmen with a four-over spell of 2-3. Stuart Newton then added another three victims to close with figures of 3-13 before Bradley Morrison tightened the vice even more with 1-4. Blake and Morrison then took charge with the bat, Blake's opening 21 followed by an unbeaten 23 from Morrison as the Plain romped to victory with nearly seven overs to spare.

Greenside lead the early table after their third successive success, the latest by eight wickets at home to Shotley Bridge.

Kieran Milburn came into the match on the back of two straight half-centuries but, although he was again the Bridge's top-scorer, his dismissal for 37 meant Shotley's eventual total of 97-4 gave Greenside every chance. …
