Garcia Moves Past Record; after 17 Years and 1,003 TDs, Sharks QB's Next Goal Is a Championship

There were more than 100 fans at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night waiting in line to get Aaron Garcia's autograph.

The Jacksonville Sharks players and coaches always make a curtain call after each home game, but there was a special sense of importance following the Sharks' 76-55 win over Orlando.

Garcia threw six touchdown passes in the victory to become the first professional quarterback to surpass 1,000 in a career. His jersey and the game ball are heading to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

As Garcia returned to the field, he was more mindful of two interceptions, not the historic milestone.

"If we're going to win a championship, I have to do better than that," he said.

"For now, the two interceptions are what I'll remember most," he said. "In the long run, though, I'm sure I'll remember this night for finally getting 1,000 touchdowns."

The quest was full of surprises, especially as he approached the landmark. …
