SEVERAL promising North Coast junior basketballers have capped off four months of hard work with outstanding performances representing the North Coast Academy of Sport at the recent NSW Academy Games, held in Armidale.

The boys squad, including Brodie Boorman, Bryce Ellis and Bryce Crispin, competed against strong squads from the Hunter, Central Coast and Western Region Academies, and were unlucky not to chalk up wins against their bigger rivals.

Similarly, the girls squad, which included Grafton athlete Mackensie Egan, also showed courage in their games against teams that included a host of NSW state

representatives.

The 2011 North Coast Academy of Sport Basketball program commenced in December last year and over the course of four camps 23 talented junior basketballers from Port Maquarie to the Queesnland border were given the opportunity to develop their skills on and off the court.

On the court, selected athletes were given the opportunity to work with former and current NSW state coaches including Nick Prior and Reagan Kama,while at the same time being given tuition from experts in the fields of goal setting, core strength, media

performance and nutrition. …
