DYNAMIC duo Les Davison and grandson Ben have hit the trout trail again at LOCKWOOD.

The boat partners caught 18 rainbows and a brown between them by fishing small lures on slowly sinking lines.

Other anglers have found fish on top as they feed at all levels. The warm weather has helped boost rod numbers and welcome rain will increase fly hatches and raise water levels. r

The rod average is around four on many days, with rainbows to 7lb 8oz caught in the last week. The reservoir was further stocked yesterday with trout to 7lb.

SHAUN Merryfield from Billingham tempted the biggest fish of the week from SCALING - a rainbow of 6lb 4oz.

It was caught on Chartreuse PowerBait from the west end of the dam wall.

In the last week 199 anglers caught 517 trout with the best baits being Worm and PowerBait cocktail, various Spinners, Chartreuse and Orange PowerBait, and the top patterns including Bibio, Black Zonker, Black UV Fritz.

Over 600 more fish have been stocked.

A HUGE 22lb brown trout is among fish stocked this week at WEST HOUSE near Bishopton.

The lake holds several big rainbows and Graham Clarkson landed one of 21lb from West Lake.

Peter Slater from Darlington caught 11 rainbows on olive and green Buzzers - his best 12lb.

The best patterns include Cat's Whisker, CDC Shipman, Black Spider, Dawson's Olive, Zonker, Pink Buzzer and Hare's Ear.

AT SHARPLEY SPRINGS, where the rod average is just over six, Bob Hammersley from Middlesbrough used a Black Buzzer to catch 24 trout in a rod bending sessions.

A lot of fish are falling to dries, with Sedge, CDC and even Daddies among the best surface patterns.

SEVERAL fish in the 6lb to 8lb range have been caught at JUBILEE, where lures, especially Olive Zonkers, are favoured by many anglers, although Hoppers have taken surface feeders. …
