MOPED raiders have struck again in the West End in the latest of a spate of designer store robberies.

Four men on stolen scooters smashed their way into Dolce & Gabbana's New Bond Street store and fled with a haul of handbags.

The smash-and-grab raid at 10 last night is at least the fifth on a central London store in a fortnight. Gangs are thought to be targeting the latest spring designs in display windows.

Also yesterday, six men on mopeds stole [pounds sterling]50,000 of goods in 15 seconds from the Larizia designer bag shop in St John's Wood at 10am -- the seventh time it has been targeted.

Night raids have become such a problem in St John's Wood High Street that shops have increased security.

But as a result of the measures, shop owners said they are now being hit by daylight raids -- and fear that these will increase. The wife of Larizia's owner told of her terror when the gang smashed down the shop door. …
