A NIGHT out on the town turned into a night in a jail cell for a Goonellabah woman who assaulted a police officer last month.

Shannon Vanz, 34, appeared in Lismore Local Court yesterday charged with assaulting and resisting police, re-entering a premises after being ejected and not complying with a police direction.

The charges related to an incident outside the Richmond Hotel in Lismore on April 15.

The mother of two was visiblyremorseful and shaken as she sat in the courtroom behind her Legal Aidlawyer Amy Barker.

Ms Barker said Ms Vanz consumed a quantity of wine at home by herself on the night of the incident before getting a babysitter and meeting up with some friends at the pub.

While she did not remember much, Ms Vanz pleaded guilty to all charges and accepted her actions, Ms Barker said.

aShe knows that she does drink too much,a she said.

aShe acknowledged this is the first time it had affected anybody else and the community. …
