Bakers Creeks Get Huge Hammering

AFL: North Mackay and Mackay City retained their unbeaten record in Mackay AFL on the weekend, at the expense of Eastern Swans and Bakers Creek.

The Saints beat the Swans 119-76 in a hard-fought match at Rogers Oval, but Bakers Creek were destroyed at Etwell Park, scoring just three points as the Hawks went on a 23-goal rampage, winning 152-3.

The Creekers' defeat came a week after they were forced to forfeit a match, which prompted a midweek meeting of club old-timers determined to keep a side on the park.

AFL Mackay chairman Rohan Howie said the meeting had developed a plan to keep the club on the field.
