THE deadline for applications from businesses to join the Gazette's bid to the Regional Growth Fund is to be extended until the end of May.

The extension means that small and medium-sized companies in the region (SMEs) now have another 10 days to join our Let's Grow campaign, being run in conjunction with our sister paper, The Journal in Newcastle.

Launched earlier this month, the campaign aims to help businesses access the government-backed fund for companies which want to grow and create jobs.

Let's Grow has already received a substantial number of bids from businesses across the North-east who want financial support for a variety of projects, from new plant and equipment to new buildings.

The firms represent a real cross-section of the business community from engineering to care homes, warehousing to software development and even a small brewery.

The Let's Grow campaign aims to help SMEs which would otherwise effectively be ruled out of bidding for RGF money because of the pounds 1m minimum threshold for applications. …
