IPSWICH'S junior hockey teams are on target for state title success after impressive Southern Cross and Coulter Shield campaigns.

The Ipswich under-13 boys and under-13 girls are leading the way.

Ipswich's boys side won the latest Coulter Shield title on Sunday, beating Toowoomba 7-1 in the final at the Gold Coast.

That came as Ipswich's under-15 girls team finished second in their Southern Cross carnival at Raceview on the same day.

A week earlier, Ipswich's Division 1 under-13 girls team won the Southern Cross carnival at Tweed Heads.

Over two days, Ipswich's under-13 boys defeated Brisbane (2) 6-0, Tweed Border 6-0 and Gympie 9-0.

In the semi-final, the Ken McCoombes coached, Bruce Robertson-managed side defeated Gold Coast 3-1.

The Ipswich boys are in fine form for the state titles in Hervey Bay (June 27-July 1) after outclassing Toowoomba in the Coulter Shield final.

Sunday's win was the third year in a row an Ipswich boys junior team won the Coulter Shield after McCoombes and Robertson worked with under-11 sides.
