Yarwun 2 Workers Back after 4-Day Halt

YARWUN 2 is back up and running after safety incidents halted production for the past four days.

Australian Workers Union (AWU) Gladstone organiser Tony Beers told The Observer a meeting yesterday with all union delegates and management at the Yarwun 2 site had been fruitful.

C[pounds sterling]There were lengthy discussions about the processes put in place last Friday, which were to stop production and construction work,C[yen] Mr Beers said.

C[pounds sterling]We identified all the hazards and then we met as a group and put in processes to rectify all the hazards as well as to isolate and put temporary control measures for issues that couldn't be fixed.

C[pounds sterling]A lot of that work has been undertaken and as a result of that areas are starting to be released so they can recommence the construction process.C[yen]

Mr Beers said media reporting of the incident where a man lost his leg last week at Yarwun 2 had upset workers and he wanted to set the record straight. …
