Whole Community Gets Behind the Heavenly HookUp

THE bending of the beer elbow will be replaced by the casting of lines on the Queen's Birthday long weekend at The Observer Boyne-Tannum HookUp.

Nearly 4000 anglers will be fishing the waters of the Gladstone region competing in the biggest fishing event in Queensland.

The hugely popular event is in its 16th year and is the product of a team of volunteers working tirelessly ever year in conjunction with local, private and corporate sponsors.

HookUp publicity guy Pat Laws said if it wasn't for the sponsors the event wouldn't happen.

C[pounds sterling]It's through their support that the HookUp is a success every year. It's not just the corporate sponsors, but the family local sponsors that are the grassroots of the HookUp,C[yen] he said.

One such family business that has been there since the HookUp's beginning is the crew at the Gladstone Bicycle Centre.

For the past 16 years owners David and Sally-Anne McIntosh have been supporting The Observer Boyne-Tannum HookUp. …
