WHEN Nobby Solano arrived at Newcastle from South America the club gave him an interpreter who couldn't speak Spanish!

Typical of Newcastle, I can hear you say.

"I was playing with Diego Maradona at Boca Juniors and dreaming of coming to Europe," admitted Nobby, "but I always thought of Spain or Italy because of the language.

"Suddenly, however, it was England and Newcastle. The only English team I had ever heard of was Liverpool because my dad banged on about them, but I wasn't going to miss an opportunity like this.

"My English was zero when I arrived. I couldn't speak a word, so the club gave me an interpreter. The only trouble was she spoke Italian and not Spanish so she was hardly any help.
