A BILLBOARD promoting an adult sex toy business has been described as disgusting, offensive and an inappropriate way to welcome visitors to Grafton.

Karen Knowlson of Eatonsville rang The Examiner on Thursday to voice concerns over the newly erected billboard near Musk Valley Creek on the Pacific Highway, South Grafton.

aI don't think people arriving in Grafton need to see that ... it's degrading,a Ms Knowlson said.

aYou want to see advertising for a good cafe or a nightspot, some of our many sports or the river, not some half naked sheila selling sex. We want people to come here.a

Ms Knowlson, a mother of three and grandmother of four, said she was passionate about Grafton.

aGrafton is one of the last bastions of the old world and to see this on the edge of town is wrong, we've got a lovely thing in this town,a she said.

aCouncil should have it removed, isn't it their job to promote our town?a

But the Mountainview-based owner of Adult Toy Box, Meagan Martin, said she had heard nothing but praise for the billboard from her client base. …
