Hands Up If You're in Line for Award! Pupils Celebrate Nomination

PUPILS at Sacred Heart School are happy to play an active role fundraising for charities at home and abroad.

Over the years, the Redcar school has donated thousands of pounds to different charities across the world.

Every half-term the youngsters are allowed to leave their uniform at home to raise money for good causes, and the school holds fetes and sales to gather more cash.

One mum is so impressed with the school's dedication to charity she has nominated it for one of the Evening Gazette's School Awards.

Donna Cooper, whose son Joseph, 13, is a Sacred Heart pupil, has nominated the school in the Active Community Category, which recognises how pupils are involved in their community.

Charities the school has raised money for include Zoe's Place baby hospice, Daisy Chain, Great North Air Ambulance and CAFOD, the Catholic overseas charity. Pupils have also raised money for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal, Breast Cancer Research, and have sent boxes for Help the Heroes and for the Rotary Clubs Romania initiative. …
