Heat Proves Too Hot to Handle for Home Side

IT WAS an offensive night to forget for the Port City Power on Friday Co they wilted against the Townsville Heat and were baked 92-59.

In a match where the home side could never get a run on in attack, smooth plays leading to baskets were few and far between, the biggest Power run resulting in six points.

Keith Borgan battled his butt off and never sidestepped an opportunity to take it to the hoop and topped all scorers on the court with 25 points.

Coach Blair Smith focussed on defence in the off season, but he would have walked away Friday night either scratching his head at how the team slowed to a crawl in attack or just writing it off as one to forget.

As the match progressed there were passages where it looked things might click, but alas the margin slowly widened as the Heat didn't lose any potency during rotations.

The Power did jump out of the blocks, with captain Dale Iwanicki icing a three (which happened to be the only Power triple for the night) to kick things off and Borgan and James Cythe Giant' Cripe were soon on the board also. …
