BEING a marriage celebrant is a ahappy joba for Virginia Leigh Juster.

Virginia relocated to Gympie last December, just in time to witness the region's worst flood in more than a decade.

As a semi-retired university lecturer, Virginia wanted a way to continue using her skills in her spare time within the Gympie area.

aI established the business and have been a celebrant since 2005, practising in Brisbane, in particular the country areas on the northern outskirts of Brisbane a Samford, Dayboro and Clear Mountain where we lived,a she said.

aI now wish to establish myself in the Gympie area as a celebrant officiating at weddings, baby naming, commitment ceremonies and vow renewals and other special occasions (such as) the loss of pets and anniversaries.a

While Virginia continues to lecture on a part-time basis, developing her marriage celebrant business has become a source of pride and joy.

aI wanted to help people in some way and enjoy the job satisfaction,a she said. …
