Legal Fight to Keep Pedophile in Prison; Former Goodna Resident Named in Morcombe Inquest

SHADOW Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie will fight to keep a violent child rapist locked up longer than his release date in February.

Mr Bleijie said there was no place in a safe community for violent offenders such as the pedophile known as P5, who is at the centre of the Daniel Morcombe investigation.

The Opposition Attorney-General says the Bligh Government has a responsibility to keep P5, a former Goodna resident, behind bars.

The pedophile's name has been suppressed by a court order during the inquest into Daniel's suspected abduction and murder.

It was revealed last week that Attorney-General Paul Lucas would have a six month window to apply to the Supreme Court for P5's sentence to be extended.

Failing that, P5 will be released under strict conditions and no one will know who he is or where he will live.

aSupervision orders are no guarantee an offender won't reoffend,a Mr Bleijie said.

aAny serious violent offenders such as (P5) who continue to pose a risk to community safety should not be released from prison. …
