Aldi to Count Up to 15 for the Coast

GERMAN supermarket giant Aldi is eyeing several new locations on the Sunshine Coast as it prepares to open its fourth store in the region.

With Aldi Beerwah set to open on July 14, the company's Queensland boss Victor Jakupec said there was the potential for 15 stores on the Coast, based on its population.

Mr Jakupec said it was too early to nominate the locations of future supermarkets on the Coast.

aWe're certainly looking at a number of areas, but none that I can talk about at the moment,a he said.

The global discount chain opened its first Coast store at Noosaville about three years ago.

Since then, it has launched stores in Caloundra and Maroochydore.

Mr Jakupec said the wet weather had slowed construction of the Beerwah store on Simpson St.

The site, which includes vehicle access from Turner St, is not far from the new rail overpass and Roberts Rd roundabout, providing a significant retail entry point to Beerwah. …
