Golfers Find Family Fun at the 19th Hole

THEY say golf is a social sport, and members of the Gin Gin Golf Club are certainly living up to that mantra by hosting family events in the hope of generating interest in the club and the sport.

The club has dubbed the event the 19th Hole, in honour of the social activities that would usually take place at the clubhouse after a round has finished.

On the first Friday of every month, families can go along and play a round of golf and enjoy a barbecue meal, games and drinks.

Club secretary Neil Pendock said it was actually a younger member of the community who suggested starting up the event.

C[pounds sterling](They said) rather than go to the old haunts every week, let's have somewhere else to go, so they decided this would be a good spot,C[yen] he said.

Mr Pendock said the event had been steadily increasing in popularity.
