NATURALLY my decision yesterday to L write about summery roses triggered torrential downpours within minutes of my fingers touching the keyboard. There must be some way to monetise this phenomenon -- such as charge someone for my ability to summon rain through wine. While I ponder what it might be, you can enjoy these versatile southern French roses anyway. It's not that cold.

Chateau Mont Milan Rose 2010, Corbieres (Majestic, [pounds sterling]5.99 or [pounds sterling]4.99 each when you buy two) Corbieres is best known for its robust Languedoc reds but they do make a bit of rose too, and it's pretty decent. This one from a big co-op is crisp, fresh and citrussy -- good value on offer.
