NOAH Lane believes a more relaxed approach to the sport has helped him surge to the top of the Queensland Championship Circuit standings.

The Rainbow Beach surfer heads into this weekend's final round of the series, the $10,000 Chiko Sunshine Coast Pro at Coolum Beach, in fine form after winning two of the three previous rounds.

The goofy-foot ace credits a more balanced lifestyle for his recent success.

aI've been doing university this year and I guess maybe that's helped a bit a having something else to focus on,a he said.

Lane is in his second year of an accounting degree at Griffith University. He believes his studies have taken the pressure off him to perform in the surf.

aI'm just trying to enjoy surfing a bit more and am not worrying about trying to go overseas and competing and that sort of thing,a he said. …
