THE mothers of a young couple who died in a horrific crash on the Bruce Highway because of a tailgating truck driver have lashed out at truckies for their adisgusting behavioura on the roads.

Marion Purdy and Kathy Whitmore were left feeling numb when the inquest into the deaths of their children concluded last week.

Coroner Maxine Baldwin said Rachel Purdy and Cory Whitmore's deaths were caused by a tailgating truck driver, who lost control of his vehicle when forced to brake suddenly.

He died at the scene as well.

Mrs Purdy and Mrs Whitmore both said they would never stop grieving but hoped the deaths of their adult children would bring about changes in driver behaviour.

The inquest into the deaths of six people, who died in three separate traffic crashes within a 15km stretch of the Bruce Highway, took six days, spanning a couple of months, and more than a year for the findings to be released.

The coroner was to decide whether the condition of the road contributed to the fatalities and determine the causes of each death. …
