RACING: When Newcastle trainer Paul Perry set Michelle Magic against the clock, the daughter of Magic Albert showed galloping ability synonymous with her immediate family.

At Muswellbrook today, the two-year-old will look to return to winning form in the $15,000 HTBA Star Kingdom Plate (1280m).

Out of the Lion Hunter mare Ugly Juggly, a Newcastle maiden winner, Michelle Magic made an immediate racetrack impression, winning her first two starts at Scone and Port Macquarie.

Spelled for 160 days, the grey filly returned with a two lengths second to Hey Soul Sister in an 1150m event at Cessnock on May 22.

Perry has had previous experience with the family, including four-year-old full-sister Magic Phoebe with three wins and three placings from seven starts.

A yearling full-sister named Magic June is also expected to come under Perry's care.

The family is raced by owner-breeder Dennis Wilton, who came to prominence with the trio's sire, Magic Albert, who won seven of 13 starts and just shy of $500,000 under Albert Stapleford at Gosford. …
