A LONDON schoolboy who told the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge how better education helped to save him from becoming a victim of gang culture today called for every child to have the same chance.

Quddus Akinwale, 17, recalled how he was disillusioned with the "chaotic" atmosphere at his school and desperately wanted to break free of the grip that gangs held on White City.

He was chosen to address William and Kate at a ball attended by 1,000 guests to help raise cash for the Ark education charity, which turned around his school, Burlington Danes, after it fell into special measures.

He told the VIP audience: "I grew up in White City surrounded by gangs. All anybody in White City wanted to do was get out, but I couldn't see a way.

"My mum was worried. She thought I was wasting all my time. School was chaotic but the teachers didn't really seem to care. No one saw the point of learning."

Today he said an increase in specialist academies across London could help tackle the problem of gangs. …
