Abolishment of the $113 ambulance levy on all power bills, ensuring all Queenslanders will have free ambulance cover.

Pensioners will get increased electricity rebates in line with the 6.6% price rise coming into effect.

Pensioners will also get $20 increases to their council rates rebate.

A GLADSTONE pensioner might only be $20 a year better off out of the 2011-12 State Budget.

Betty Craft, 70, said she didn't think the abolishment of the $133 ambulance levy on all Queensland power bills would have any impact on her as she didn't think pensioners paid it.

The attempt to relieve pensioners from the pressure of rising power bills looks to balance the scales, with the government saying pensioners will get increased rebates in line with the 6.6% price rise coming into effect.

The only possible direct benefit from the State Budget for Mrs Craft will be the $20 increase to the council rates rebate, unless council rates rise above that. …
