STAFF from Stockton-based Onyx Group have stepped out on a gruelling charity walk to raise cash for a good cause.

Workers from the data security company took part in a 26 mile walk to raise funds for and celebrate the 40th anniversary of the North-east charity, The Cyrenians.

The Cyrenians charity is dedicated to working with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups, offering them the chance to get involved in a number of ground-breaking projects which can make a real difference to people's lives.

Onyx chose The Cyrenians as its charity of the year in recognition of the excellent work the charity has been doing over the past 40 years. On completing the walk, Neil Stephenson, chief executive of Onyx Group, said: "For me and my colleague Alastair Waite this has been a brilliant yet humbling experience.

"The walk was very hard work but, frankly, it pales into insignificance compared to the sort of challenges being tackled by some of the people The Cyrenians work with. …
