Peter Appleby took top spot in the qualifier with 10 for 14lb. Tom Nelson was second with 10 for 13lb 9oz and John Anderson was third with 10 for 12lb.

There were several catch limits this week with I Parker netting eight for 15lb 1oz in Stocky Bay. S Ferris had the heaviest fish of the week at 4lb 9oz from Beeches Walk at Leaplish.

Derwent regular Doug Pearson spun his way to a catch limit for 17lb 8oz on the same day while Ernest Mosey reached his limit for 18lb 4oz, including a 6lb rainbow, and Joe Carr landed yet another tiger trout.

Bait anglers also had a fine week with Raymond Whaley landing eight for 17lb, including a 5lb 8oz rainbow.

Keith Miller, who is relatively new to angling, landed a limit catch which included a 4lb golden trout and the pounds 300 sweep.

Kyle Mailer found a hot spot on the north shore, returning eight on fly before taking seven rainbows on bait - including two of more than 4lb - for 25lb 8oz. Fishing next to him, D Mailer returned nine and took seven rainbows for 16lb 12oz.

Zach Hind from Spennymoor set the blue ball rolling at Grassholme on Wednesday taking a superb 8lb 8oz fish from the dam. …
