ON the Queen's Birthday long weekend seven clubs from Woodgate down to Tin Can Bay fished in the annual Inter Club Challenge.

Hervey Bay Amateur Fishing Club hosted the event at the Hervey Bay Bombers Football grounds.

More than 130 members from these clubs braved a wet and windy Friday and Saturday to find a winning fish.

With Sunday and Monday morning being great improvement weather wise some exceptional fish were caught.

Grant Hansen from the River Heads Club caught a trevally weighing 9 kg and a length of 92 cm and a blackall weighing 5.58 kg with a length of 80cm.

Also from the same club, Aimee Doubleday caught the largest flathead weighing 1.651kg. Phil Befumo from Tin Can Bay caught the winning cod, 5.604kg.

Once again Toogoom Fishing Club were champion club, with River Heads Fishing Club runners up in only their second year of their competition.
