RACING: Star galloper Rangirangdoo will miss the spring carnival for a second straight year.

Trainer Chris Waller said the decision had been made to try to protect the dual Group One winner for another tilt at the Sydney autumn carnival riches in 2012.

Rangirangdoo suffered a serious suspensory injury last year which kept him out of racing for almost 12 months before he returned in the autumn for a two-run campaign which included Group One success in the George Ryder Stakes.

C[pounds sterling]We made the decision with Rangirangdoo that we're going to miss the spring, he's going to be ready to go in the early autumn instead,C[yen] Waller said. C[pounds sterling]I just wasn't entirely happy with the way his leg was, we've had it scanned and it's been cleared of any issues but there is still a bit of heat there and a bit of remodelling and I'd rather give him a bit longer and be careful.C[yen]

After winning the 2010 Doncaster Mile, Rangirangdoo spent almost a year on the sidelines before he made his return in the Canterbury Stakes in March. …
