Pulled up outside home

GREGORY Aitken won't be driving for 12 months after he was charged with mid-range drink driving when police pulled him over outside his Maclean home on March 22.

When they breath tested him, the 46-year-old told police that 10 minutes beforehand he had just finished a beer, one of four he'd consumed at a Maclean hotel.

At Maclean police station his licence was suspended on the spot when he recorded an alcohol reading of .144.

Magistrate David Heilpern fined Mr Aitken $1000, ordered him to pay $79 court costs and cancelled his licence for 12 months last Tuesday at Maclean Local Court.

American man in mid range

WHEN police spotted Taylor Helm driving along Coldstream St at Yamba with his headlights off, they followed and pulled him over.

Helm was breath tested and after a positive roadside reading he registered a mid-range alcohol reading of .127 at Yamba police station.

He told officers he consumed four middies of beer at a Yamba hotel between 9pm and midnight. …
