THE Coffs Harbour tradies owed $1.7 million over the stalled Harbour Dr Housing NSW complex, following the collapse of Perle Pty Ltd, are hopeful of returning to the worksite to complete the job.

Creditors have put a proposal to the O'Farrell Government calling for out-of-pocket sub-contractors to be reinstated on the Coffs Harbour development and the company's two other failed projects in Wollongong.

Ken Tugrul of Wollongong's TDK Development Constructions has put the proposal to Housing NSW and Finance Minister Greg Pearce on behalf of affected creditors.

A spokesman for Minister Pearce said the proposal was still under consideration, despite optimism among sub-contractors that the matter may soon be finalised.

The proposal, if accepted, would see affected sub-contractors, who can show proof of debt, employed to finish the Harbour Dr complex and recoup some of their losses.

Coffs Harbour's Ernie Burnett, whose plumbing company is owed around $300,000 for unpaid work, said there's hope an amicable deal will be brokered. …
