RESIDENTS of Cooloola Cove have long been of the opinion that the Cooloola Cove Residents and Friends Association is a funding agent for the rest of the regional area.

Alas, little improvement is seen in Cooloola Cove, which seems always to be the last to receive attention.

Of course, the knowledge is that Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach are the tourist areas with all the facilities they provide, but, most of Cooloola Cove is filled by permanent residents, those who keep the local businesses going the whole year round, but they get little of their own to show for it.

The Centenary of Federation Park cannot be found as it is not signposted.

This is a good park, equipped with playground equipment, barbecue and toilets.

Youths seem to be well and truly forgotten in Cooloola Cove.

Two years ago the Vietnam Veterans applied for and got a parcel of land to build a youth meeting place and sports pavilion.

Nothing has been heard of this since. Will it ever?

THE ladies from the Tin Can Bay Branch of QCWA are doing their little part in helping to keep some of the businesses in town viable.

They are doing this in the form of regular monthly get-together coffee mornings. Each month sees a different venue being visited and, due to the business affairs taking up most of their meetings, this gives members a chance to have an informal chat, a real get to know you session!

A lovely idea this. This most recent coffee morning held at Cafe to the Max gave some of the members a chance to swap books.

The meetings of this group are held on the second Monday of the month at the clubrooms behind the Tin Can Bay QCWA Holiday Cottage at 9am in Whiting St. Come and join them!

Speaking of the holiday cottage, this is a reasonably priced place of accommodation for working families. It features two bedrooms, a comfortable lounge and kitchen, a washing machine, and beautiful views! …
