Missing Man Is Safe after Lost Weekeng; Finally Found in Scottish Borders

DAYS of anguish are over for the family of missing John Lord, who has been found safe.

The 52-year-old's loved ones spent four days searching for him after he failed to turn up at his niece's house on Saturday.

But police traced him yesterday afternoon.

Mr Lord left his home, in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, telling neighbours he was going for a drive before visiting his niece in Ashington at lunchtime to lay a carpet.

But the cleaner and handyman, who works at Ashington Leisure Centre and is a familiar face around the town, never arrived for his appointment.

His family began to fear the worst, thinking he could have become ill while driving or going for a walk, and contacted police.

But officers were able to locate him in Hawick in the Scottish Borders, after he was captured on CCTV, and he was found there safe and well.

A police spokesman said: "Missing man John Lord from the Newbiggin area of Northumberland, has been found safe and well in the Hawick area of the Scottish Borders. …
