IN OCTOBER 2009, then-14-year-old Connor Anderson addressed Lismore City councillors on behalf of Nimbin's youth asking for help in building a skate park for their village.

On Saturday, the fence around his dream will come down and his mates and many others will officially skateboard in the new park for the first time.

aEven though it's not quite finished, now that the concrete is poured and it's taking form we are really excited that we are going to be skating it. It's a reality now,a Connor, who helped with the design, said.

aIt has bigger features than the one at Goonellabah and because it has the snake run, it's probably going to be packed every day.a

With the final concrete pour of the last bowl a there will be three in total, plus a street course and snake run a due today, Saturday's asofta opening will be celebrated with a barbecue at 11.30am.

Construction of the skate park has been a priority for Lismore City Council after the controversial metal skate park proved too noisy. …
