A VOLCANIC ash cloud plaguing southern airports continued to disrupt flights in and out of the Sunshine Coast yesterday but Italian chef Luca Digirolamo managed to make it to town for this weekend's A Taste of Coolum event.

Mr Digirolamo flew in to Brisbane Airport, despite disruptions, and travelled by road to the Coast to prepare to host the $85 a head A Night in Italy dinner on Saturday.

Flights in and out of southern capitals were cancelled yesterday morning because of the ash cloud from the south Chilean volcano, which has thrown out timetables for the entire Australian airport network twice in two weeks.

Sunshine Coast Airport general manager Peter Pallot said normal flight schedules should resume today and a total of 18 flights should arrive and depart the Sunshine Coast.

Five flights in and five flights out of the Sunshine Coast Airport from and to Sydney and Melbourne were cancelled yesterday, affecting up to 1700 passengers. …
