Circle Shaping Up Well for De Sousa; Racing Preview

SILVESTRE de Sousa's star is well and truly in the ascendancy, and the Brazilian jockey looks set for another good day at Hamilton.

De Sousa is teaming up more and more with Middleham trainer Mark Johnston, who provided him with both of his Royal Ascot winners, and the partnership is blossoming.

Johnston's Circle Of Angels has the look of a good thing in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Handicap (3.45) after her most impressive victory over course and distance earlier this month.

Her debut at Beverley was only average, but she stepped up on that greatly and was a well-backed winner of a nine-furlong maiden next time out.

A rating of 75 would usually be good enough to win any claimer but in Saucy Brown she faces a rival of similar ability.

However, being two years younger there could be more to come from her.

Peter Hiatt's Mandhooma has only gone up 1lb for winning at Brighton a couple of weeks ago and looks to have solid claims back at the seaside venue.

He beat Foxtrot Alpha, who has since absolutely hacked up, that day, so the 1lb rise now looks very lenient. …
