CHEAP units in prime locations are putting lie to claims that the Sunshine Coast is one of the most expensive places in Australia to put a roof over your head.

As investors desert the market, opportunities are opening up across the region, with the pick being property in the sought-after Kings Beach and Alexandra Headland aGolden Trianglea areas.

Andrew Garland, of Ray White Caloundra, said yesterday there were more than 80 two-bedroom units at Kings Beach priced in the mid-$200,000 range.

Two years ago properties for sale in the area were as ascarce as hens' teetha.

Renting for $200 to $300 a week, the units represent great buying for investors entering the market.

aWe're close to the bottom if not there already,'' Mr Garland said.

aPrices on the ground are lower and people are starting to figure that out. There is real value there.

aI think as the market becomes more aware that prices represent good value we'll see a turnaround off the back of that value. …
