Rivals Unite to Play for State; High Hopes for Maroons to Keep Schoolboy Trophy

MARCUS Tanzer and Jeriah Goodrich were the fiercest of rivals when they lined up for their respective schools in the O'Callaghan Cup, but next week they take the field as teammates against the best schoolboy rugby players in Australia.

Tanzer, from Downlands College, and Goodrich, from Toowoomba Grammar School, have been selected in the Queensland One team to contest the Australian Schoolboys Championship, which starts at Ballymore on Monday.

Goodrich impressed as a member of the dominant GPS 1 team at last week's open schoolboy's trials, earning a call-up into the Queensland One team after being a member of the victorious Queensland Two team last year.

Goodrich, who has been selected on the wing, is relishing his chance to mix it with the best junior rugby players in the country.
