BEDLINGTON Station WMC hosted round one of the Mark Williams Memorial Trophy.

Thirty-four talented players from across the region are looking for a place at finals night - and the chance to take home a pounds 1,000 guaranteed winner's prize.

Keith Wright, Alan George, Alan Davie and John Watson were to figure strongly in the first night's action.

Wright enjoyed wins against Darren Shields, Kevin Thorburn, Jamie Martin, Andy Mabon and Graeme Stoddart to reach the first-half final.

There he would meet John Watson, who had victories against Matty Willis, Debbie Waugh, Ian Arkle, Tony Wood and Dave Gradwell.

In the second half of the draw, Alan George reached the final with wins against Andy Gradwell, Kevin Thorburn, Stevie Wanless and Keith Wright. George would face Alan Davie in this final as Davie took the spoils against Mark McCann, John Watson, Greg Falcus and Gordon Dobey.

George won the toss and started in style with three tons and a 129 in a 15-dart winning first leg. …
