Family's New Burial Agony; Parents to Rebury Son Exactly 11 Years after His Funeral

GRIEF-STRICKEN parents Pam and George Cummings face the agony of burying their son for the second time - exactly 11 years to the day of his funeral.

Christopher Rochester, who died in a Greek hospital after falling 40ft from a hotel balcony, was buried at Chester-le-Street Cemetery on June 29, 2000.

And his family were today due to face reliving that moment when they were forced to bury him for the second time after his body was exhumed on Monday. Christopher died from internal bleeding at Rhodes' Andreas Papandreou Hospital on June 11, 2000.

When his body was flown home, a post-mortem examination found a kidney was missing.

An organ was later returned to the family but tests on it failed to produce a genetic match.

But the Greek authorities disputed the DNA findings and insisted new samples should be taken by exhuming Christopher's body.

His body has now been released by the coroner and was due to be re-interred at the cemetery at 1pm today. …
