Man Lost Teeth in Pub Fight; but Attacker Walks Free

A PEACEMAKER had two front teeth knocked out when he tried to stop a fight on New Year's Eve.

David White stepped in when his friend became involved in a scuffle with Andrew Wade.

Wade, who has no previous convictions and who has a respectable job, lashed out with a single punch which hit Mr White in the mouth.

Now a judge has taken the 'exceptional step' of giving Wade a conditional discharge instead of locking him up, because of his good references and a positive pre-sentence report.

Judge Guy Whitburn, at Newcastle Crown Court, told him: "You are a thoroughly respectable man who was drunk in the early hours of New Year's Day.

"You hit another man, knocking two teeth out, causing considerable pain, distress and discomfort."

Mr White had been at the Phoenix Pub, in Cramlington, on New Year's Eve.

Outside the pub one of his friends became involved in an argument with Wade, who was with another group. …
