IT is amazing what a bit of matrimonial rivalry does for some people's golf game.

Nambour Golf Club member Paul Forsyth produced one of the best rounds of his career on Wednesday last week after his wife, Lindel, joked she was the true golf champion in the family.

That little dig resulted in Forsyth, a 65-year-old retiree playing off a 22 handicap, winning the overall stableford competition with an impressive 47 points. He shot 79 off the stick on the par-68 layout, winning by a comfortable margin and also securing the C-grade title.

C[pounds sterling]My wife won the nett at the Bribie Island Ladies Classic last Monday and Tuesday, and when I was leaving (for the round last week) she said to me, CyGoodbye and have a really good day at golf'.
