Cunningham Trophy Lodged in Club History

BOB Lindenberg has rarely missed a Saturday or Sunday of golf in the past 45 years.

He has won his share of events, including the Cunningham Trophy which will be played again tomorrow.

The trophy was originally donated by Jack Cunningham and Eddie Strudwick in 1927.

Both were keen golfers and Eddie was greenkeeper/caretaker at the time. Jack donated the annual trophy.

In 1938, JD Rowland donated the Cunningham Trophy honour board. From the 1960s, Keith Cunningham, a son of Jack, donated the annual trophy until his death.

At that time, the club captain organised for golfing members of the Cunningham Masonic Lodge to present the annual trophy which was continued until around 2000 when the club lost golfing members of the Cunningham Lodge.

As a member of the Cunningham Lodge, Lindenberg has donated and presented the trophy for the past 10 or 11 years.

Despite missing his first extended period of golf in 45 years as a member, Lindenberg will be at the club tomorrow for the playing of the Cunningham Trophy. …
