TEESSIDE'S comedy scene is about to start a sizzling summer season. Here's our guide to what's on offer: * Big Mouth Comedy Club. Middlesbrough, Town Hall Crypt - Saturday Enjoy an evening with one of the stars of Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow.

Mick Ferry wowed a TV audience of millions on BBC1's massive Saturday night hit, and film buffs will also know him from Looking For Eric, after starring alongside Eric Cantona himself.

Top support comes from scouse charmer Sam Avery - with Danny McLoughlin as MC.

Tickets pounds 12.50, details 01642 729729. * Josie Long, The Waiting Room, Eaglescliffe - Sunday, July 3 Josie Long spent her early life in Orpington, South-east London and began performing stand-up comedy at the ridiculously young age of 14.

At 17 she won the BBC New Comedy Awards, but when she was accepted to Oxford University she put her stand up career on hold. She read English language and literature at Lady Margaret Hall but the call of performing proved too strong and Josie ran experimental comedy clubs during her studies.

After graduating, she returned to live stand up, supporting Stewart Lee on his Spring 2005 tour, and round that time tour she contributed sketches and one-liners to BBC Radio One's comedy show The Milk Run.

Josie's 2010 show, Be Honourable, earned her an Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination alongside Russell Kane (who won), Greg Davies, Bo Burnham and Sarah Millican.
