WELCOME to a new era for Formula One. I'm not talking about the change in regulations that have aided overtaking more than we could have ever imagined, with over 80 passes in the Turkish Grand Prix alone, or the Red Bull Revolution that seems to have made Sebastian Vettel almost untouchable at the top of the slippery F1 ladder.

No, I'm referring to the new gleaming home of the pits and paddock, at the home of British motorsport. Silverstone.

Thanks to a new long-term deal to host F1 races, the British Racing Drivers' Club who run the circuit have made the most extraordinary investment. In fact, the tens of millions they've spent to update the face of this great old circuit have changed things to such an extent that David Coulthard, who has won here twice, actually got lost driving in!

Whilst the new circuits, with their shiny infrastructure and impressive facilities should be rightly proud, Silverstone is now a track that has stunning facilities, too, to match its rich history.

With 41 pit buildings covering 18,000 square metres, it's huge and impressive. It's also a big chance for Silverstone to look tip-top in the eyes of the world ... so that will be why they employ 14 people to cut the grass and 15 painters ... I hope it looks good on your HD TV sets!

It's not just the pit buildings that are new, however. …
