THE Fraser Coast offers a huge variety of jobs for school leavers and university graduates which extend beyond the obvious retail and tourism sectors.

There are job opportunities in industries such as health, education, children's services, engineering, marine, agriculture and construction.

The variety of jobs and training available in the region will be showcased at the 2011 Fraser Coast Careers Expo on Thursday, July 21, at the Wide Bay Institute of TAFE.

It will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

The annual expo aims to link employers and training providers with people who are thinking about their future career options.

More than 1000 Year 10 students from the Hervey Bay and Maryborough areas will attend the expo on school excursions.

Tas Webber, from the University of Southern Queensland Fraser Coast, said the careers expo was a once-a-year opportunity to see what was on offer locally.
