THE home straight is in sight and the whips are being drawn in this season's Ipswich Rugby League A grade competition.

Talk of building towards semis is long gone as desperation for points replaces theory.

Fassifern are enjoying the benefit of last weekend's bye, following their lacklustre effort against Norths a fortnight ago.

Player/coach Daniel Roos put that down to the hangover from pushing Brothers hard the weekend before and is confident time off will provide the remedy.

C[pounds sterling]We gave them the whole week off (last week) because some were struggling with the flu and some with injuries,C[yen] Roos said.

C[pounds sterling]Just the difference at training on Thursday was huge.

C[pounds sterling]You could see the difference with their attitude, intensity and communication.C[yen]

It will all be needed if the Bombers are to remain in the hunt for fourth spot.

They hold that position now, ahead of West End on for-and-against and sit two points clear of Goodna.

If form holds and Swifts beat West End, a win for Fassifern will give them some breathing space.

A loss to Goodna could see them out of the four.

C[pounds sterling]It is really important,C[yen] Roos said of the need to win.

C[pounds sterling]Going into the last five games, everyone's a must-win.C[yen]

Fassifern beat Goodna 42-26 last time the teams met, at Harrisville, after racing to a 20-0 lead early.

With wet weather forecast, a percentage game is what Roos will be asking from his troops, with five-eighth Andrew Walker directing play.

C[pounds sterling]Just completing our sets is the most important thing,C[yen] Roos said.

C[pounds sterling]And doing our best to slow their forwards down.

C[pounds sterling]It will need a big defensive effort.

C[pounds sterling]We have to try to play as much as we can in their half.

Goodna are equally desperate for the win, after going close against Swifts last start.
