ONE of the newest motor dealerships in the North-east is part of the largest and oldest-established automotive retailing groups in the UK, whose enduring success is based on impeccable customer service. The latest Nissan dealership at McMullen Road, Darlington, is part of the mighty Bristol Street Motors Group, which has more than 100 years of successful trading to its credit.

Bristol Street is now owned by the mighty Vertu Motors group, which is a plc created to acquire and consolidate motor retail businesses within a financially rock-solid corporation at a time of economic uncertainty. Bristol Street dates back to the start of the 1900s and a century later has not only survived but has grown to be one of the UK's tenth largest motor groups with about 80 dealerships nationwide.

One of the latest developments in its ongoing expansion is the acquisition of the former Motornation used car outlet at Darlington, which was revamped and subsequently won the coveted Nissan franchise.

Now trading as Bristol Street Motors Nissan, it is the only approved Nissan sales and service centre to cover Darlington, South west Durham, North Yorkshire and Teesdale, with responsibility extending into Teesside. Strategically positioned close to the Darlington end of the busy A66 road, the dealership encompasses all aspects of Nissan sales and service at a time of soaring sales for the brand. Now rated as Japan's most popular and profitable motor company, Nissan's satellite manufacturing operation at Sunderland is the UK's largest and Europe's most productive. Bristol Street's Darlington dealership handles not only the locally-made Qashqai, Note and Juke models but also the Pixo, Micra and 370Z sports model.

So far this year Nissan's sales in the UK are up by 13.5%, from just over 35,000 during the first five months of last year to virtually 40,000 during the same period this year. …
