Fed Up Waiting for Playground; Mums Want Action on Svendsen Park

IT HAS a car park, but it is certainly no destination for these Emu Park mothers.

Mums Rochelle Stone, Emma Kidd and Sandra Brinkley are friends who live near Svendsen Park and are fed up waiting for playground equipment.

At the park yesterday, where the kids ran around for a short time, the mothers said they were told by the developers and the Rockhampton Regional Council that playground equipment would be installed in the park, but it remains a large grassed open space with small trees and a dedicated car park.

Sandra said she and her husband bought their block of land, which is only a few houses from the park, eight years ago because they wanted to start a family and were told it would soon have a playground.

The nearest playground is Bell Park, which Sandra said was not suitable for her young boy, and was not fenced. …
