AS A resident of Tweed Shire, I formally ask Tweed Shire Council to officially apply to the NSW and Qld governments to amend the Tweed River Sand Bypass Scheme to include a new provision that sand from this system be used to protect infrastructure in the Tweed Shire from ongoing coastal erosion processes.

One of the main objectives of this project was to maintain beach amenity and it is obvious that southern Gold Coast beach amenity has been maintained, while the beaches to the south, especially Kingscliff, have not.

Obviously if the beaches mentioned in the original Tweed River Sand Bypass Scheme need replenishment, they should have the first priority, but it's obvious that any excess sand should also be utilised to maintain beach amenity along the whole Tweed Shire coastline.

I ask that the Tweed Shire Council request this as an amendment to the project as it is our beaches as well as our McPherson Overlap Vegetation and climate that is the main sustainable economic stimulus to our region. …
